NEW TABLET and link

Fri May 28, 2010, 9:50 AM
Edit2

My intuos3 is still sitting over at Wacom.

BUT I GOT A NEW INTUOS4 :'DDDDD it just came in the day before yesterday, and I was playing with it and having tons of fun yesterday hee x333 I was so excited!

I got a really good deal on it so I pounced. :3 I got my Large intuos4 (which costs $409) AND corel painter 11 (which costs $319) for the price of just the tablet :333 yay student discounts!!

Anyway Im going to be churning out some of these sketch commissions that are listed below :3

ALSO EVERYONE SHOULD GO GET A DUCT TAPE WALLET YOU KNOW YOU WANT ONE <3 blazer-flamewing.deviantart.co…

Edit

Well, dad wasn't able to fix it. I tried to get him to try again but he wont. So he called Wacom to see if they could send him a $15 replacement power cord, but apparently they cant do that. I have to send my tablet all the way to California just so they can take out 4 screws, plug in a new wire, and put the screws back in. $55, for a 5 minute job my dad could do himself. AND now I have to wait a couple weeks on top of that.

This is the cord www.tablet4u.co.uk/images/item… its an intuos3 USB cable, if anyone knows where I can buy one online please let me know. tablet4u isn't selling them anymore and Wacom doesn't have them on their website, but it'd be much nicer to just buy the cord rather than send it all the way to California. :/

Well..

My tablet is currently completely taken apart. xD

Photobucket
Photobucket

..dunno why they're showing up transparent xD oh well, just click them and you can see the full picture. anyway. Over the past 3 years of using my baby without a proper desk to place it on, and thus having to hold it in my lap, the ground wire (the silver colored wire shown) has disintegrated from being twisted, bent, and rotated every which way. The other wires are fine, but the tablet wont work without the ground wire.

The only reason my tablet was able to work for so long was because the disintegrated pieces were still stuck inside the wire, and so when the cord was held in a certain position, the pieces would still touch eachother and it would work...however, a few days ago it started to not even work that way..so I asked my dad to see if he could fix it, since he has worked as an electrician and has worked with machinery all his life. He said that when he opened up the wire the ground wire fell out like snowflakes, it was so finely ground up in there. xD my poor baby!

Anyway, yep..no digital art until my dad is either able to fix it, or I have to get a new tablet. xD IVE BEEN SO BORED WITHOUT MY BABY OMG YOU GUYS D:

I'll see if I can take some more pictures of the inside of the tablet later, its covered up right now so no one touches the giant motherboard chip thing inside it xD

That is all. :3

Yep! x3 I am loving it so much!

Well I was going to give it to derek, and have him help me pay for this new one, but my parents wouldnt let me >> they said he would be getting too good of a deal, that he'd only be paying 200 for something that they've put 400 into (300 originally and now with the repairs its almost 400) so i dunno. So I'm going to keep my intuos3 here at home for when I'm at school, so I wont have to be bringing my new one back and forth all the time and possibly breaking something again.

Yeah. I had a small Bamboo but I wanted something bigger...this is an 8x6 tablet or something, and supposedly has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity? I had a $10 off coupon thing for the website I bought it from too, so I only paid $35 for it. It's not really the best tablet ever (the USB cord can be finicky nowadays...probably wearing down like yours did) but it was cheap and suits my needs for now, so it'll work since I can't afford an Intuos. And if it does what yours has done, it'll at least be fairly easy to replace.

I do want an Intuos someday though, when I can afford one. Though it'd be even more awesome to get a Cintiq...but that's wanting a bit much. XD

Wow, that's so awesome. XD You'll have to tell me how great that is. :U Though, beware of the nibs wearing out? I've seen people say that they wear out a lot quicker than the Intuos3's.

Wacom is still selling this cable in Europe.
[link]

Problem is, they won't ship to the US. And me buying it and then shipping it to you would also cost around $55 thanks to the strong and the high price for the cable.
Still it will likely only take one week instead of several but you have to repair it yourself. If you want me to do it write me a note. Still you are likely better of to ask in local stores if they have one and when you send it to them you likely have a guarantee on the repair so that sounds to be the better deal to me.

Ahh..thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it..but I agree with you, it's not worth the extra hassle, that and I hear that the airports are still shut down from that cloud right now over there..? Oh well, we've decided to just go ahead and send it in and get the new cable and get the active area replaced as well. :)

Some airports have trouble, mainly in the UK, but on the European mainland the airports are open since two weeks.

Good luck getting the repairs.

Not soon enough.
I plan to visit London next week. I hope that works out because the airports in the UK were closed for 2 days this week because of another ash cloud.

Lets see.

Actually I would not be too disappointed if another ash cloud blocks the airport. They would have to refund me and I could do a bigger vacation in the summer (Tokio with the A380). Sadly I only got the idea after I booked.
